How much baking soda and vinegar is needed to make a volcano erupt?
Materials
* 1/4 cup baking soda
* 1/4 cup vinegar
* 1 tablespoon dish soap
* Food coloring (optional)
* A large bottle (at least 1 liter)
* A funnel
* A paper towel
Instructions:
1. Place the baking soda in the bottom of the bottle.
2. Use the funnel to add the vinegar to the bottle.
3. Add a few drops of dish soap to help create a more dramatic eruption.
4. Add food coloring, if desired.
5. Quickly place the paper towel over the top of the bottle and step back.
The vinegar will react with the baking soda to create carbon dioxide gas, which will cause the volcano to erupt. The paper towel will help to contain the eruption and prevent it from making a mess.
Note:
* The amount of baking soda and vinegar you need may vary depending on the size of the bottle you are using.
* If you want a more dramatic eruption, you can use more baking soda and vinegar.
* Be sure to use a large enough bottle so that the volcano has room to erupt.
* This experiment is best done outdoors or in a sink, as it can make a mess.
