Recipe for Banana Nut Bread

Ingredients:

1 cup flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup mashed bananas

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 loaf pan.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the bananas, oil, egg, and vanilla extract.

4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

5. Fold in the walnuts.

6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips:

* To accurately measure flour, spoon it into a measuring cup and level it off with a knife. Do not pack the flour into the cup.

* For perfectly mashed bananas, place them in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until they are soft and mashed.

* To accurately measure oil, use a liquid measuring cup. Do not use a dry measuring cup, as this will not give you an accurate measurement.

* To ensure that your baking soda is fresh, add a few drops of vinegar to it. If it fizzes, it is still good to use. If it does not fizz, it is time to replace it.

* To prevent your bread from sticking to the pan, grease and flour the pan thoroughly. You can also line the pan with parchment paper.

* To test if your bread is done baking, insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, the bread is done. If it comes out with batter or crumbs attached, the bread needs to bake for a few more minutes.
