What is the diet of a crystal jellyfish?
Crystal jellyfish (Aequorea victoria) are carnivores and their diet consists primarily of:
* Zooplankton: These are small animals that drift in the water, such as copepods, krill, and other small jellyfish.
* Small fish: They can also capture and consume small fish larvae.
* Plankton: They may also consume some plankton, including phytoplankton and zooplankton.
Crystal jellyfish are passive hunters. They don't actively pursue prey but rather rely on their tentacles to capture food that drifts by. Their tentacles are covered in stinging cells called nematocysts, which paralyze their prey.
