How fast can a sunflower starfish go?

The sunflower starfish (Pycno podia helianthoides) is not known for its speed. Starfish, in general, are slow-moving echinoderms. The sunflower starfish typically moves by using its tube feet to grip the substrate and pull itself forward. Its movement speed is estimated to be around 2.5 to 3.8 centimeters per minute (1 to 1.5 inches per minute). So while the sunflower starfish is not the fastest creature in the ocean, it can still move steadily along the seafloor.
