What kind of tank would be best for your hermit crab and babyturtle?
Hermit Crab:
1. Glass or plastic tank: Hermit crabs need a glass or plastic tank that is at least 10 gallons (38 liters) in size. The tank should have a secure lid to prevent the hermit crabs from escaping.
2. Substrate: The substrate should be a mixture of sand and coconut fibers. The sand should be fine-grained and free of sharp edges. Coconut fibers help to hold moisture and create a more natural environment for the hermit crabs.
3. Hiding places: Hermit crabs need places to hide in order to feel secure. You can provide hiding places by using driftwood, rocks, or commercial hideouts.
4. Water dish: Hermit crabs need access to fresh water at all times. The water dish should be shallow so that the hermit crabs can easily climb in and out.
5. Food dish: Provide a separate food dish for the hermit crabs. The food dish should be filled with a variety of foods, such as fruits, vegetables, pellets, and protein.
Baby Turtle:
1. Size: The size of the tank will depend on the type of turtle you have. For example, a red-eared slider turtle will need a tank that is at least 75 gallons (284 liters) in size, while a musk turtle will need a tank that is at least 10 gallons (38 liters) in size.
2. Substrate: Aquatic turtles need a substrate that is safe for them to eat. Some good substrate options include sand, gravel, and waterlogged peat moss.
3. Hiding places: Turtles need places to hide in order to feel secure. You can provide hiding places by using driftwood, rocks, or commercial hideouts.
4. Water: Aquatic turtles need access to clean water at all times. The water should be deep enough for the turtle to swim comfortably, but not so deep that it cannot reach the surface.
5. Heat: Turtles need a warm environment in order to survive. You can provide heat by using a heat lamp or a basking platform.
6. Lighting: Turtles need both UVA and UVB lighting in order to stay healthy. You can provide lighting by using a fluorescent bulb that emits both UVA and UVB light.
