How did the jellyfish get its name?
Jellyfish are gelatinous creatures found in the ocean. Their name is derived from the Portuguese word "gelatina," which means jelly, and the Greek word "ichthys," which means fish. The name "jellyfish" was first used in the 18th century by the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus.
