What to do for your hermit crabs bedding?

Substrate

Hermit crabs need a deep substrate to burrow in. The substrate should be made of a mixture of sand and peat moss. The sand should be fine-grained and the peat moss should be moistened. The substrate should be at least 6 inches deep.

Moisture

Hermit crabs need a humid environment. The humidity in the tank should be between 70% and 80%. You can increase the humidity by misting the tank with water or by placing a wet sponge in the tank.

Hiding Places

Hermit crabs need hiding places to feel secure. You can provide hiding places by using driftwood, rocks, or PVC pipes. The hiding places should be large enough for the hermit crabs to fit inside completely.

Food

Hermit crabs are omnivores. They will eat a variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, meats, and pellets. You should offer your hermit crabs a variety of foods to ensure that they are getting the nutrients they need.

Water

Hermit crabs need access to fresh water at all times. The water should be shallow so that the hermit crabs can easily reach it. You should also provide a salt water dish for the hermit crabs to drink from.

Temperature

Hermit crabs are tropical animals and they need a warm environment. The temperature in the tank should be between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. You can use a heat lamp or a heat mat to maintain the temperature in the tank.

Cleaning

The tank should be cleaned once a week. You should remove the old substrate and replace it with new substrate. You should also clean the water dish and the salt water dish.
