Why are goldfish orange?
The orange color in goldfish is a result of selective breeding over many generations. Wild goldfish are typically olive green or brown in color, but mutations that resulted in orange coloration were selectively bred for by humans because they were considered more attractive. The orange color in goldfish is due to the presence of a pigment called carotenoid, which is also found in carrots and other orange-colored fruits and vegetables.
