What color is shrimp blood?
Shrimp blood is actually blue!
This is because shrimp, like many other crustaceans and insects, have a copper-based protein called hemocyanin in their blood instead of iron-based hemoglobin. Hemocyanin binds oxygen and turns blue when oxygenated.
