The Alaskan king crab, Paralithodes camtschaticus, is a large crustacean found in the North Pacific Ocean. It is the largest species of king crab, and can grow to an impressive size. The average weight of an Alaskan king crab is between 10 and 15 pounds (4.5 and 6.8 kilograms). However, some individuals can be much larger, with some specimens weighing in at over 20 pounds (9 kilograms) and have a leg span of up to 7.5 feet. Male Alaskan king crabs tend to be larger than females, making them a prized catch for both recreational and commercial fisheries.
