Why shrimp be refrozen?
It is not recommended to refreeze shrimp. Shrimp that has been frozen and thawed, then refrozen, can lose its flavor and texture. Additionally, refrozen shrimp may be more susceptible to bacterial growth, which can pose a health risk.
If you have shrimp that you need to store, it is best to keep it frozen until you are ready to cook it. If you do need to thaw the shrimp, it is best to do so in the refrigerator overnight or under cold running water. Once thawed, the shrimp should be cooked immediately and not refrozen.
