How do you hatch brine shrimp?

To hatch brine shrimp, you will need the following:

- Brine shrimp eggs, known as cysts

- A hatching container, such as a jar, bottle, or fish tank

- Saltwater

- An air pump and tubing

- A light source

Instructions:

1. Prepare saltwater: Dissolve approximately 1 tablespoon (15 grams) of aquarium salt or marine salt mix into 1 liter of clean water (approximately 33.8 fluid ounces).

2. Fill the hatching container with the prepared saltwater.

3. Add the brine shrimp eggs: Sprinkle a small amount of brine shrimp eggs onto the water's surface; don't overcrowd the container.

4. Attach an air pump and tubing to the hatching container: Place one end of the air tubing in the water of the hatching container and the other end connected to an air pump and turned on. The air bubbles provide oxygen and promote hatching.

5. Place the hatching container in a well-lit area or provide a light source: Brine shrimp eggs require light to hatch, so place the hatching container near a window or under a lamp.

6. Maintain proper temperature: Brine shrimp eggs hatch best in a temperature range of 75-86°F (24-30°C). Keep the hatching container in a warm place, such as near a heat source or in a sunny room, to maintain this temperature.

7. Waiting period: Leave the hatching container undisturbed for approximately 24 to 48 hours.

After 24 to 48 hours, you will notice small, free-swimming brine shrimp (nauplii) in the hatching container. These hatched brine shrimp are ready to feed to your aquarium fish or other aquatic creatures.

It's important to note that only a portion of the brine shrimp eggs will typically hatch, as there can be variations in the hatching rate among batches of eggs.
