How long does it take for an avocado to rot?
An avocado can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to rot, depending on the storage conditions. When stored at room temperature, an avocado can start to rot within a couple of days. However, if stored in the refrigerator, it can last for up to a week or even longer. The best way to tell if an avocado is ripe and ready to eat is to gently squeeze it. If the avocado is ripe, it will yield to slight pressure. If it feels hard, it is not ripe yet and should be left to ripen at room temperature. If it feels mushy, it is overripe and should be discarded.
