Are bread pasta and oats acids?
Bread, pasta, and oats are not acids. They are carbohydrates.
Here's why:
* Acids are substances that release hydrogen ions (H+) when dissolved in water. They have a pH less than 7.
* Carbohydrates are made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. They are a source of energy for the body and do not release hydrogen ions.
While bread, pasta, and oats can be broken down into simpler sugars during digestion, this process doesn't make them acidic. The sugars themselves are not acids.
