What Can I Do With Alfredo Sauce?
There's nothing like cuddling up on the couch with a good book and a big bowl of your favorite comfort food. For some, fettuccine Alfredo is the ultimate comfort food: warm, mushy pasta topped with a decadently creamy, buttery sauce that tastes delicious and begs you to finish the bowl. Whether your Alfredo sauce is store-bought or homemade, there are many foods that would love to be paired with this delightful topping.
Pasta

The obvious choice for using up your Alfredo sauce is on top of a big bowl of pasta. In most Italian restaurants, Alfredo is offered over a bed of fettuccine, which is a long, flat pasta similar to spaghetti. The difference between fettuccine and spaghetti is that while spaghetti is round, fettuccine has a flat surface so it holds the sauce better and captures more taste on each bite.
When choosing a pasta for your Alfredo sauce, look for one that produces a similar effect. Spiral noodles or long penne pasta are both good choices that will catch the sauce in their ridges.
Chicken

Chicken breast is a wonderful choice for your leftover Alfredo sauce. The creaminess of the sauce will pair nicely with the tender chicken breast and makes for a unique marinade. You can pour Alfredo sauce on raw chicken breast and allow it to sit for a few hours in the refrigerator before grilling or baking, or you can pour the sauce on right before cooking.
If you choose not to marinate at all, heat the chicken in a few tablespoons of olive oil in a pan over a medium flame, and pour the sauce on when it is almost done cooking for optimal flavor.
Breadsticks

If you want a unique way to jazz up your appetizer course, serve Alfredo sauce as a dip and provide a variety of foods to dip into it. The Italian chain restaurant, The Olive Garden, is known for their Alfredo starter that they serve with breadsticks. You can serve warm garlic bread with your Alfredo sauce, crunchy breadsticks, flat crispy crackers or crudites, such as raw broccoli and cauliflower. When served as a dip, your Alfredo sauce can be either warm or room temperature.
Potatoes

Add a delicious depth of flavor to ordinary scalloped potatoes by using Alfredo sauce in place of normal chicken broth or along with it. Prepare your potatoes as usual, cutting them into thin slices and layering with onions, butter and spices or however your recipe instructs. When it is time to top them with broth, combine the broth with your Alfredo sauce and pour this mixture over your potatoes. Alternatively, use only Alfredo sauce, but be sure to dilute with enough water to make it easily pourable so your potatoes won't dry out.
Then cover the top of the pan and bake, according to recipe instructions.
