How to Make Good Old Fashioned Spaghetti Sauce
Looking for a way to make good old fashioned spaghetti sauce? This recipe has been handed down from an Italian mom-mom and is simple to make, even for a novice. Read on.
Things You'll Need
- 28 oz. Tomato Puree
- 12 oz. Tomato Paste
- 6 cloves garlic
- Olive Oil
- Garlic salt
- Basil
- Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Instructions
-
Flatten and dice the garlic cloves. Put them in a pot with olive oil and lightly brown them.
-
Add the tomato puree and tomato paste. Fill each empty can with water and add to the mixture (do this twice). Stir thoroughly (make sure you crush the tomato paste).
-
Add the garlic salt, basil, and sugar. I don't measure out the garlic salt and basil, just use enough of each to coat the top of the sauce.
-
Turn up the heat and the let the sauce come to a boil, stirring frequently (be sure to watch it so it doesn't burn at the bottom of the pot). After the sauce comes to a boil, turn down the heat, stirring frequently, for 2-3 hours. About 1/2 hour before serving, coat the top of the sauce with parmesan cheese.
