How is halal meat cut?

The slaughtering of animals according to Islamic law is called halal. The following are the steps involved in cutting halal meat:

- The animals must be slaughtered by a Muslim using a sharp knife. The knife must be free of any defects and must not be serrated.

- The animal must be facing Mecca and recited a prayer before being killed.

- The jugular veins, carotid arteries, and trachea of the animal must be severed quickly and completely.

- The carcass must be bled out completely and the blood must not come into contact with the meat.

- The skin of the animal must be peeled off and the internal organs removed.

- The intestines must be cleaned and the lungs removed.

- The meat must be washed thoroughly several times with water.

- The meat can then be cut into pieces and cooked or prepared for freezing or storage.
