How is halal meat cut?
The slaughtering of animals according to Islamic law is called halal. The following are the steps involved in cutting halal meat:
- The animals must be slaughtered by a Muslim using a sharp knife. The knife must be free of any defects and must not be serrated.
- The animal must be facing Mecca and recited a prayer before being killed.
- The jugular veins, carotid arteries, and trachea of the animal must be severed quickly and completely.
- The carcass must be bled out completely and the blood must not come into contact with the meat.
- The skin of the animal must be peeled off and the internal organs removed.
- The intestines must be cleaned and the lungs removed.
- The meat must be washed thoroughly several times with water.
- The meat can then be cut into pieces and cooked or prepared for freezing or storage.
