Why Catholics consider fish S meat?

Catholics do not consider fish to be meat.

The reason for this confusion might stem from the tradition of abstaining from eating meat on Fridays during Lent. This tradition dates back to the early Church and was a way to honor the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who died on a Friday.

However, the Church never considered fish to be meat. This is because fish are cold-blooded and do not have red blood. Historically, this was considered a key characteristic of meat.

Therefore, while Catholics traditionally abstain from eating meat on Fridays during Lent, fish has always been permitted and is considered a type of seafood.
