What is a recipe for jerky that good with any meat?
All-Purpose Jerky Recipe
This recipe is versatile and can be adapted for any meat, including beef, chicken, turkey, pork, venison, and even fish.
Ingredients:
* 1-2 lbs meat, trimmed and cut into thin strips (1/4" thick)
* 1/4 cup soy sauce
* 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
* 2 tbsp brown sugar
* 1 tbsp garlic powder
* 1 tbsp onion powder
* 1 tsp black pepper
* 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
* 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions:
1. Marinate: Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Add the meat strips and make sure they are thoroughly coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to 24 hours.
2. Prepare: Preheat your oven to 175°F (80°C) or set up your dehydrator according to the manufacturer's instructions.
3. Dry: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Remove the meat strips from the marinade and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
4. Dry in oven: Bake for 3-4 hours, or until the jerky is dry and firm. You can check for doneness by pressing on a strip; it should not be sticky or feel wet.
5. Dry in dehydrator: If using a dehydrator, follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying time. This will typically take 4-6 hours.
6. Cool and Enjoy: Remove the jerky from the oven or dehydrator and let it cool completely. Store the jerky in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
Tips for Success:
* Meat Selection: Choose lean cuts of meat for the best results. Beef, venison, and turkey are good options.
* Thin Strips: Cut the meat into thin strips, about 1/4" thick, for even drying.
* Marinate Time: Marinate the meat for at least 2 hours, or up to 24 hours, for maximum flavor.
* Temperature: Keep the oven or dehydrator temperature low and consistent to prevent burning.
* Doneness: Check the jerky frequently for doneness to prevent over-drying.
* Seasonings: Feel free to experiment with different seasonings to create your own unique jerky flavor.
Enjoy your delicious homemade jerky!
