How can you tell if blackmoor fish is male or female?
There are a few ways to tell if a blackmoor fish is male or female.
Body shape: Males tend to have longer, more streamlined bodies than females. Females, on the other hand, are often rounder and fuller-bodied.
Fins: Male blackmoor fish typically have longer, flowing fins than females. The dorsal fin of a male may also be taller and more pointed than that of a female.
Coloration: Males are often more brightly colored than females. This is especially true during the breeding season. Males may also have more metallic sheen to their scales.
Behavior: During the breeding season, males will often chase females and display their fins. They may also make a popping sound by vibrating their swim bladders.
Keep in mind that these are just general guidelines. There is some variation among individual fish, so it's not always possible to tell the sex of a blackmoor fish with 100% certainty. However, by considering the above factors, you can usually make a pretty good guess.
