Can you just add salt to your aquarium raise the salinity?
No, adding salt to your aquarium will not raise the salinity. Saltwater aquariums require special salt mixes in specific proportions to create saltwater of the correct salinity and composition for the fish and invertebrates that inhabit it. Simply adding salt to water will not provide the necessary minerals and elements required for a healthy saltwater environment, and can be harmful to the tank inhabitants.
