How do fish hydrate them selfs?
Fish hydrate themselves by drinking the surrounding water and absorbing water through their skin and gills.
- Drinking water: When fish take in water, it passes through their mouth, gills, and digestive system. The water is then absorbed into the bloodstream.
- Absorption through the skin: Fish have a layer of scales that help to protect their bodies. However, these scales are also permeable to water, which means that water can pass through them. This is why fish can hydrate themselves by swimming in water.
- Absorption through the gills: Fish have gills that they use to breathe. However, the gills are also responsible for absorbing water from the surrounding environment. The water is then passed into the bloodstream.
Fish need to hydrate themselves regularly in order to maintain their body fluids and electrolyte levels. If a fish does not drink enough water, it can become dehydrated and die.
