How to make regular stuffing?

Classic Stovetop Stuffing:

Ingredients:

* 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

* 1 large onion, chopped

* 2 celery stalks, chopped

* 1 (16 ounce) package cubed bread, firm white or Italian

* 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley

* 1/2 cup chopped fresh sage

* 1 teaspoon dried thyme

* 1 teaspoon dried rosemary

* 1 teaspoon salt

* 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

* 4 cups chicken broth

* 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the bread: In a large bowl, toss the bread cubes with 1/2 cup melted butter, salt, and pepper.

2. Sauté the vegetables: In a large skillet, melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Add the onion and celery and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

3. Combine everything: Transfer the softened vegetables to the bowl with the bread cubes. Add the herbs, chicken broth, and nuts (if using). Stir gently to combine.

4. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the stuffing mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.

Tips:

* For a crispier stuffing, add 1/2 cup of chopped celery leaves to the stuffing.

* You can use leftover cooked chicken or turkey for added flavor and protein.

* For a more flavorful broth, use homemade chicken broth or a flavorful store-bought broth.

* To prevent a dry stuffing, add a little more chicken broth if needed during baking.

* Serve stuffing hot from the oven.

Variations:

* Cornbread stuffing: Replace the white bread with cornbread cubes.

* Sausage stuffing: Add 1 pound of cooked Italian sausage to the stuffing mixture.

* Cranberry stuffing: Add 1/2 cup of dried cranberries to the stuffing mixture.

This recipe is just a starting point. Feel free to adjust the ingredients and spices to your liking. Happy stuffing!
