How to Freeze Hamburger Helper (4 Steps)
Hamburger Helper is a product made by the Betty Crocker food company. The box of Hamburger Helper provides pasta and the spice or sauce mix for the dish. You add meat, bought separately, to complete the entree. There are over 20 varieties of Hamburger Helper on the market across a spectrum of flavor profiles, such as American, Italian, Mexican and Asian. There are also Chicken Helper and Tuna Helper lines where those meats complete the dish. After you have prepared the dish, you can place it in your freezer to consumer at another time.
Things You'll Need
- Hamburger Helper
- Sealable container
Instructions
-
Prepare the Hamburger Helper according to the package directions. Allow to cool to room temperature so condensation does not form inside the container. This can lead to ice crystals and freezer burn.
-
Place the Hamburger Helper in a freezer container. Use an airtight container to reduce the chances of freezer burn.
-
Mark the container with the date you have prepared and frozen the food. You can place a piece of masking tape on the container and write the date with a marker.
-
Freeze the Hamburger Helper. According to the USDA, food frozen at 0 degrees can remain safe almost indefinitely. Many home freezers have the capability to freeze at that temperature. Therefore, the recommended freezing length is only for quality and taste. While there is no "Hamburger Helper" guideline on the official USDA website, they recommend that casseroles be frozen for no longer than 3 months.
