What is a hamster nest made of?

Hamsters usually build their nests in a burrow or a secluded spot in their enclosure. The materials they use to build their nests vary depending on what is available, but common materials include paper, bedding substrate (such as wood shavings, shredded paper, or even hay), and pieces of fabric. Hamsters will often shred these materials into smaller pieces to make their nest more comfortable. Some hamsters may even use their own fur or food to line the nest. The purpose of the nest is to provide a safe and warm place for the hamster to sleep, rest, and raise its young.
