Can you use duck sauce as a base for stir fry sauce?
While you can technically use duck sauce as a base for a stir fry sauce, it is not typically recommended as it is not traditionally used in Chinese stir frying. Duck sauce is a sweet and tangy sauce that is most commonly used as a condiment for Peking duck or as a dipping sauce for spring rolls. True Chinese stir fry sauces are usually based on soy sauce, oyster sauce, and/or hoisin sauce blended with other ingredients to add more depth of flavor. If you do want to use duck sauce as a base for a stir fry sauce, you may want to add other ingredients to balance the sweetness and tanginess of the sauce, such as soy sauce, ginger, garlic, or red pepper flakes.
