How do you defrost snapper?
There are a few ways to defrost snapper:
1. In the refrigerator: This is the safest and most gentle method, but it takes the longest. Place the frozen snapper in a colander or bowl and set it in the refrigerator. Allow it to thaw for several hours or overnight, depending on the size of the fish.
2. In cold water: This method is faster than thawing in the refrigerator, but it's important to keep the water cold to prevent bacterial growth. Place the frozen snapper in a sealed plastic bag and submerge it in a bowl of cold water. Change the water every 30 minutes or so to keep it cold. The fish should thaw in about 1-2 hours, depending on the size.
3. In the microwave: This is the fastest method, but it's also the most risky, as it's easy to overcook the fish. Place the frozen snapper on a microwave-safe plate and microwave it on the lowest power setting for 2-3 minutes at a time, flipping the fish over halfway through. Check the fish often to prevent it from overcooking.
Once the snapper is thawed, it can be cooked as desired.
