How to Slow Cook Pork Chops and Potatoes (6 Steps)
When you don’t have time to cook the crock pot, or slow cooker as some call it, can be a lifesaver. With the following recipe and tips, you can have that home cooked meal ready for your family without the time and hassle of rushing to cook dinner.
Things You'll Need
- Large skillet
- Large mixing bowl
- 5-quart slow cooker
- Spoon (or stirring utensil)
- 6 pork chops
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of sour cream
- One 10 3/4 oz. can of cream of celery soup (do not dilute)
- One 30-ounce pack of frozen hash browns (thawed)
- 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
- One 2.8 ounce can of french fried onions (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon of seasoned salt
- 1/8 teaspoon of pepper
- 1 crock pot liner
Getting Started
-
Gather the ingredients that you will be using (listed above). Place the crock pot liner in the slow cooker.
-
In a large skillet on the stove top, lightly brown the pork chops on both sides. Set the pork chops on the side and keep them warm.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the potatoes (hash browns), the soup, the milk, the sour cream, the seasoned salt and pepper and one cup of the cheddar cheese. Set the rest of the cheddar cheese aside for now. If you have chosen to use the onions, stir in half of them now and set the rest aside.
-
Pour the potato mixture into the lined crock pot (slow cooker). Put the pork chops on top of the potato mixture.
-
Turn the crock pot on high and cook for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until the meat juices in the pork chop run clear.
-
Carefully remove the lid of the crock pot and sprinkle the top of the pork chops with the remaining onions (if using) and the rest of the cheddar cheese. Place the lid back on the crock pot and continue to cook it for another 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
