Who discovered chickens?

Chickens weren't "discovered" in the way we think of a scientific discovery. They were domesticated from a wild ancestor, the red junglefowl (Gallus gallus), over thousands of years.

While we can't pinpoint a single person who "discovered" chickens, we know that the process of domestication likely started in Southeast Asia, possibly as early as 8000 years ago.

It's important to remember that the domestication of chickens wasn't a one-time event, but a gradual process that involved humans selectively breeding birds with desirable traits for food, eggs, and even fighting.

So, instead of a single "discoverer," we have thousands of years of human interaction with chickens leading to the birds we know and love today.
