Simple Things to Do With Chicken Tenders
Chicken tenders, also known as chicken strips or chicken fillets, are the tenderloin part of the chicken breast with only one string of tendon through it. They do not contain any bones or skin. While recipes calling for whole chicken or chicken breast can sometimes be time-consuming, there are a variety of simple recipes that only take a few minutes to prepare with chicken tenders.
Chicken and Dumplings
-
Chicken and dumplings might sound time-consuming at first, but we're not talking about your grandmother's old-fashioned recipe which involved hours of boiling whole chickens and rolling out homemade dough for dumplings. This family favorite can be made with a can of biscuits, a bag of chicken tenders and a family size can of cream of chicken soup. First, cut up the tenders into bite-size pieces and cover them with water in a medium-size sauce pan. Heat water to boiling, then reduce heat and let chicken pieces simmer until the meat turns white. Drain all water from the chicken, then add one family-size can of cream of chicken soup and one can of biscuits, cut up into bite-size pieces. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes. Use flour tortillas instead of biscuits if you prefer flatter dumplings or use cream of celery soup for a variation to the traditional approach.
Pan Fry
-
Pan frying chicken tenders is another simple recipe. Dip the tenders in raw egg, roll them in a plate full of crushed French fried onion pieces and fry in a shallow pan with oil over medium heat until golden brown.
Bake
-
Baking chicken tenders is another quick option to consider. Lay tenders side by side in a glass cake pan and cover with your favorite marinade or barbecue sauce. Cover with aluminum foil to help keep the chicken from drying out and be sure to cut some slits in the foil. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or until chicken is completely cooked all the way through and no pink remains.
Grill
-
One of the simplest things to do with chicken tenders is to throw some on the grill. Whether you have a gas, charcoal or tabletop electric grill doesn't matter. Thaw out a bag of frozen chicken tenders and season them with your favorite spices, marinade or barbecue sauce. Cook them for the appropriate time according to your grill instructions.
