How to Marinate Chicken With BBQ Sauce

Indulge your taste buds by marinating chicken with BBQ sauce before cooking. The sauce, which can range from smoky to sweet and thick to watery, is typically made from tomato paste and vinegar with spices and sweeteners added to give it flavor. Originally concocted to top meat after barbecuing, the sauce also is used for grilling and baking. Marinating chicken in BBQ sauce, which is found at retailers or made from a family recipe, is a simple procedure that gives a mouthful of flavor.

Things You'll Need

  • Sharp knife
  • Fork
  • Airtight container
  • Sealable bag

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the chicken with a sharp knife. This allows you to avoid triming the chicken after it marinates.

  2. Remove the skin of the chicken, and pierce the flesh with a fork. This allows the marinade to soak into the chicken.

  3. Place chicken into an airtight container, or sealable plastic bag. Coat the chicken completely with the marinade.

  4. Seal the container or plastic bag, and flip the chicken around to create an even coating of marinade on the chicken.

  5. Place the container or bag into the refrigerator and allow to sit for at least two hours. The longer the chicken marinates, the more the flavor absorbs into the chicken.
