- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 cup of plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of ginger, grated
- 1 (28-ounce) can of diced tomatoes
- 1 cup (250 mL) of heavy cream
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh cilantro leaves
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, combine the chicken, garam masala, coriander, cumin, chili powder, turmeric, salt, and yogurt. Mix well to coat the chicken.
2. Heat the butter and oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
3. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
4. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute more.
5. Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides.
6. Add the tomatoes and heavy cream and bring to a boil.
7. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
8. Stir in the cilantro and serve with rice.
3. Nanaimo Bars
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup of melted butter
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2. In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
3. Bake the crust for 10 minutes.
4. In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened.
5. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the chocolate chips. Stir until the chips are melted.
6. Pour the chocolate mixture over the baked crust.
7. Refrigerate the bars for at least 2 hours before cutting and serving.
