What do stone crabs eat?

Stone crabs are omnivores and their diet consists of a wide variety of marine organisms, including crustaceans, mollusks, fish, and sea urchins. They are opportunistic feeders and will consume whatever is available in their environment. Stone crabs use their powerful claws to crush the shells of their prey and extract the soft tissue inside. They are known to feed on blue crabs, mud crabs, shrimp, oysters, clams, mussels, scallops, squid, octopus, and even small fish such as sardines and anchovies. Stone crabs have also been known to consume algae and other plant matter, although this is not a major part of their diet.
