Is tuna salad safe to eat if it has been frozen and then thawed heated?
No, tuna salad is not safe to eat if it has been frozen and then thawed and heated. The bacteria that can cause food poisoning can survive freezing and can multiply rapidly when the food is thawed. Heating the tuna salad will not kill all of the bacteria, and you could still get sick if you eat it.
- Tuna salad should be consumed within 2-4 days when frozen and should be completely consumed as soon as it has been heated
- When reheating the frozen and thawed tuna salad, ensure your heating your salad correctly. Ensure that your salad is heated to 165°F. Use a food thermometer to check that it has reached this internal temperature.
