Do you add water to steam green beans?
Steaming green beans does not require adding water because it uses the steam from boiling water to cook the beans. Placing a steamer basket or colander filled with green beans over a pot with boiling water creates steam that will rise and cook the beans. The boiling water does not come into direct contact with the beans, eliminating the need for added water during the steaming process.
