How to Make Homemade Grapefruit Juice Cocktail
Homemade grapefruit juice cocktail is delicious, full of vitamin C and a fraction of the cost of packaged fruit juice cocktails. It is easy to make and requires only a few kitchen implements. This refreshing drink will be a favorite of adults and kids alike.
Things You'll Need
- 2-3 pink grapefruits
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 quarts cold water (approximate)
- Large spoon
- Citrus juicer
- Sharp knife
- 2-quart pitcher
Instructions
-
Wash the grapefruits to remove any pesticide residue from the fruit. Using the sharp knife, cut the grapefruits in half. Remove the juice from the grapefruit halves by reaming them on the citrus juicer. An electric or hand juicer can also be used. Discard the seeds and peels.
-
Measure the sugar into the bottom of the pitcher. Pour the freshly squeezed juice over the sugar and stir with the spoon. Stir until all the sugar has dissolved and the liquid is clear. This creates the juice concentrate. Several batches can be made ahead and frozen in plastic zip bags for easy use.
-
Add water until the pitcher is about half full and stir again, mixing the water and concentrate completely. Fill the pitcher to the top with water. Cover and chill for 1 hour before serving.
