How to Make Your Own Colored Margarita Salt (3 Steps)
Even in the dead of winter, the margarita evokes the warmth and sunshine of its native Mexico. These tropical drinks feature tequila and lime, with coarse salt on the rim of the cocktail glass nicely complementing these flavors. To add a festive touch to your margarita without changing the taste of your favorite recipe, rim your glasses with colored salt.
Things You'll Need
- Food coloring
- Sealable plastic bag
Instructions
-
Pour 6 tbsp. margarita salt or kosher salt into the plastic bag. Margarita salt and kosher salt are coarse salts with similar tastes.
-
Add four drops of food coloring. You can use four drops of the same color, or you can mix different colors together.
-
Seal the bag and give it a good shake. If the color is not dark enough, add more food coloring, one drop at a time.
