What is instant tea powder?

Instant tea powder is produced by brewing tea, removing most of the water from the infused brew, and grinding the remaining solid substance into a fine powder. The final product consists of highly concentrated tea compounds that dissolve quickly when you add hot water, just like instant coffee.

Tea leaves or tea bags are immersed in hot water for brewing just as you would prepare a regular cup of tea, but the brewing process is prolonged to extract more of the tea's flavor, color, and aroma into the infusion.

Once brewing is finished, the liquid extract undergoes various methods to facilitate the removal of water content. These techniques can include spray drying, vacuum drying, freeze drying, or agglomeration, each method resulting in different physical properties of the final tea powder.

Spray drying is the most commonly used method. In this process, the concentrated liquid extract is dispersed as a fine mist into a heated drying chamber. The droplets of tea extract rapidly evaporate their water content, leaving behind dry, tiny particles of tea powder that can instantly dissolve in water.

Instant tea powder offers convenience as you don't need to wait for brewing time.
