Why is a teabag membrane?
Tea bag membranes are not usually made from animal membranes, but rather from a filter paper material that allows the hot water to steep the tea leaves and release their flavor, while preventing loose tea leaves from escaping into the cup. Common filter paper materials used for tea bags include abacá, a species of banana; cellulose, derived from wood pulp; or even nylon mesh in some cases.
