How to Brew Green Tea
Japanese green tea is produced in many regions in Japan. Most is produced in Shizuoka prefecture, located about an hour south of Tokyo by the bullet train. These fields produce various forms of green tea known for rich flavor, which is gaining attention for its health benefits. When you brew green tea leaves, you can savor the benefits of their antioxidants that are important to your health. Read on to learn more.

Brew your green tea at the right temperature, which is usually between 165 and 170 degrees F. The temperature can vary depending on the type of green tea, though.

Use the proper ratio of green tea to water. Add 1 heaping tsp. to 1 cup (8 oz.) of water for most green teas.

Boil water in a kettle; then remove it from the heat source. Pour the boiling water into a teapot.

Let the boiling water sit in the teapot for about 1 minute to warm it. Then, fill as many teacups as you plan to serve with the hot water. Pour out any leftover water from the teapot.

Add the appropriate amount of loose leaf green tea to the empty, warm teapot according to the amount of water you're using (see Step 2).

Pass the hot water between your filled teacups and an extra, empty one several times. This cools the water to the appropriate temperature as described in Step 1.

Return the water from the teacups to the teapot filled with loose leaf green tea. Let it brew for 2 minutes.
