Can you drink soda with gout?

It is best to avoid or strictly minimize soda when you have gout

- Sugary drinks including regular soda (diet soda should be mostly avoided as well), contain high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

Fructose has been studied extensively and associated with weight gain and obesity—risk factors for developing gout when the uric acid content is high as well

- Soda may also dehydrate you. Proper hydration keeps fluids moving through blood vessels and to the joints promoting fluid exchange into and out of the tissue to remove excess amounts of uric acid through the kidneys and into the urine.
