Vodka Breakfast Drinks
Although vodka is normally reserved for evenings, there are plenty of occasions where a refreshing drink is perfect for the mornings. Brunches, celebrations and holidays are a great opportunity to showcase vodka. Vodka blends very well with other drinks, making it a natural choice for mixed drinks and cocktails.
The Breakfast Drink
-
The Breakfast Drink is exactly what it sounds like -- light, fruity and perfect for breakfast. The Breakfast Drink is traditionally made in a large batch in a punch bowl, making it an easy choice for brunch with friends and family. Pour into a large punch bowl 1 cup each of vodka and peach schnapps. Add 1/2 cup raspberry liqueur, 1 gal. orange juice and three bottles of sour mix. Mix thoroughly, and serve in highball glasses over ice.
Bloody Mary
-
The Bloody Mary is the ultimate savory cocktail. Spicy and flavorful, this drink was invented in 1921 at Harry's Bar in Paris. Place crushed ice in a cocktail shaker. Add a dash of Worcestershire and Tabasco sauce, one shot of vodka, a splash of dry sherry, two shots of tomato juice and half a shot of lemon juice. Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper, then shake vigorously until the shaker becomes frosted. Strain into a Collins or highball glass. Add one stalk of celery to the glass and serve.
Vodka Mimosa
-
Also known as a Champagne Screw, this updated version of the Mimosa packs an extra punch. All ingredients should be chilled before mixing. Pour one shot of vodka in a chilled champagne flute. Fill the glass halfway with orange juice and stir. Fill the glass to the top with champagne or sparkling wine. Pour the champagne slowly to allow it to fizz without bubbling over.
Screwdriver
-
The Screwdriver is the simplest of vodka breakfast drinks. It requires only two ingredients and is wonderfully refreshing paired with a hot breakfast. Fill a highball glass three-fourths of the way with crushed ice. Pour one to two shots of vodka over the ice, depending on your taste. Fill the glass with orange juice and stir well. Garnish with an orange slice.
