How to Convert a Bottle (Fifth) to Cups
If you want to make a punch or sangria recipe for a party, you'll need to know how to figure out the number of cups in a standard bottle of alcohol before you head to the liquor store. Wine and liquor are often sold in "fifths," bottles that measure 1/5 gallon, or approximately 757 milliliters. By converting the amount in the bottle to cups, you will know how many bottles to buy to make your beverage recipe for a crowd.
Instructions
-
Write the formula for converting a fifth bottle to cups: 750 milliliters x 1 cup / 236.6 milliters.
-
Cancel out milliliters in the numerator and denominator, leaving 750 x 1 cup / 236.6.
-
Divide 750 by 236.6, approximately 3.17. There are 3.17 cups in a fifth bottle of wine or liquor.
