How to Make a Pear Martini
Though a traditional martini is made with gin and dry vermouth, these days there are more variations than ever on this popular classic. Today’s most popular martinis are often made with a combination of vodka and a sweet, fruity ingredient like schnapps. In this article, you’ll learn how to make a pear martini.
Things You'll Need
- Mid-priced vodka (plain or pear-flavored)
- Pear schnapps
- Cocktail shaker
- Several ice cubes
- Cocktail glass (also called a martini glass)
Instructions
-
Gather all your tools and ingredients. You may prefer a metal cocktail shaker to a plastic one because the metal helps the drink get colder.
-
Start with a simple 1:1 mixture. A cocktail glass holds about 6 oz.., so try to use about 2.5 oz. of each ingredient. When you shake the ingredients with ice to create a chilled drink, some of the ice will melt, increasing the amount of liquid in your drink. Pour vodka and pear schnapps into a martini shaker with three to four ice cubes. Later, you may decide to adjust the quantities of each type of alcohol depending on your tastes.
-
Make sure the cocktail shaker lid is on tight, then shake vigorously about 40 times. Shaking the ingredients with ice both cools the drink and introduces tiny air bubbles that make the drink more refreshing. After shaking, strain into a martini glass and enjoy!
