Sweet Mixed Drinks

Sweet mixed drinks are a great way to unwind on a warm day. With the addition of fruit juices and flavored liqueurs, simple hard liquors are transformed into delicious, thirst-quenching cocktails. These drinks are sweet, fruity and easy to make. Don't let the taste fool you, though. Cocktails are serious alcoholic beverages, through and through.

Hawaiian Orange Blossom

  • This drink is a tropical take on the traditional orange blossom cocktail. Combine in a cocktail shaker over ice 2 parts gin, 1 part triple sec, 2 parts orange juice and 1 part pineapple juice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with an orange slice.

Sex on the Beach

  • Sex on the Beach is equally known for its clever name as well its fruity flavor. Mix together in a cocktail shaker 1 part peach schnapps, 1 part vodka, 2 parts orange juice and 3 parts cranberry juice. Pour into a glass over ice and top with a splash of lemon juice.

Rum Swizzle

  • Make a big batch of this cocktail and serve it at your next barbecue. Mix together in a pitcher 8 oz. dark rum, 5 oz. pineapple juice, 5 oz. orange juice, 2 oz. grenadine, the juice of 2 lemons and 6 dashes of Angostura bitters. Stir the mixture vigorously until it begins to froth. Pour into glasses over ice.

Tequila Sunrise

  • This sunny cocktail gets its name from the slow mixing of orange juice and grenadine. Pour 2 parts silver tequila over a handful of crushed ice in a tall glass. Fill the glass with orange juice. Mix well with a stirrer. Slowly add 1 part grenadine.
