How to Make Coffee With Alkaline Water (3 Steps)
Alkaline water has a pH value greater than 7. You can produce alkaline water from regular tap water with a distiller or water ionizer. While researchers have not firmly established the health benefits of alkaline water, some studies suggest that this type of water can increase your energy level and metabolism. Because coffee is a naturally acidic substance with a pH value less than 7, making coffee with alkaline water reduces some of the coffee's acidity and bitterness. Alkaline water enthusiasts report that making coffee with alkaline water brings out coffee's natural aroma and flavor better than traditional water. Alkaline water can be used no matter what your preferred method of making coffee: French press, stove top coffee maker or drip coffee machine
Things You'll Need
- Alkaline water
- Ground coffee
- Coffee maker
Instructions
-
Pour 6 oz. of alkaline water for each cup of coffee you want to make into your coffee machine. If you are using a French press, pour the water into your kettle and bring the water to a boil.
-
Add 1 tbsp. of coffee to the filter or the French press for each cup of coffee you want to make. When using non-alkalized water, most people use 2 tbsp. of coffee per cup. However, the alkaline water better releases the natural flavor of the coffee, so less coffee is needed.
-
Turn your coffee maker on and allow your coffee to brew. If you are using a French press, pour the hot water over the coffee and let it sit for four minutes before depressing the plunger.
