How to Make Flavored Coffee Spoons

Gift a coffee aficionado with flavored spoons to jazz up her coffee, or make some spoons to treat yourself to a special brew. You can create your own combination of flavors for a tailor-made cup of java or keep it simple with plain chocolate. Using as few as two ingredients -- counting the spoons -- you can whip up some gourmet flavored spoons in your own kitchen with only a few simple tools.

Things You'll Need

  • Baking tray
  • Wax paper
  • Dark, milk or white baking chocolate, or candy coating in any flavor
  • Microwave-safe bowl or measuring cup
  • Metal spoons or sturdy plastic spoons

Instructions

  1. Line the baking tray with wax paper and set it aside.

  2. Chop your baking chocolate coarsely. If you are using candy coating disks or chocolate chips, there's no need to chop. Use 1 oz. of chocolate or candy coating for every three spoons you want to make.

  3. Place the desired amount of chocolate or candy coating in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 50 percent power for 15 seconds, then remove from the microwave and stir. Continue microwaving for 15-second intervals at half power, stirring after each interval, until the coating is completely melted.

  4. Let the coating cool for a minute or two if you are dipping plastic spoons. Dip a spoon far enough into the melted chocolate or candy coating to completely cover the bowl of the spoon. Place the coated spoon on the wax paper-lined tray. Repeat for as many spoons as you want to make.

  5. Place the tray of dipped spoons in the refrigerator until the coating hardens, about 10 minutes. Store spoons covered in a cool place if you don't use them immediately.
