Italian Cocktails & Drinks
Classic Italian cocktails are rich in taste and history. In 1860, Davide Campari created a red vermouth and named the bitter-sweet liquid after himself, Campari. Giuseppe Cipriani, a bartender in Venice in 1934 created a cocktail known as the Bellini. The cocktail was inspired by the colorful works of artist Giovanni Bellini. Prosecco is a sparkling white wine found in many Italian cocktails or or chilled and served by itself.
Campari

The Negroni is a classic Italian cocktail. The drink consists of equal parts of Campari, dry gin and sweet vermouth. The mixture is shaken with ice and strained into a martini glass. A orange peel is added as garnish. The Italian Spritzer is mixed in a punch bowl. The juice of two lemons, a bottle of dry white wine and a bottle of club soda are mixed together. Add the ice and 4 oz. of Campari. The punch bowl is garnished with orange and lemon peels.
Vodka

Sgroppino is made by pouring equal parts of chilled vodka and Prosecco into flutes. A spoonful of lemon sorbet is added. The garnish is a sprinkle of mint leaves. Fri Cafe Italiano is a vanilla and anise-flavored beverage.The drink is made with chilled espresso, cream, chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka, and sambuca. The ingredients are shaken with ice and strained. The beverage is served immediately in chilled glasses.
Prosecco

The Bellini is a peach-flavored cocktail. A peach puree is made by mixing white peaches, water, sugar and lemon juice. The puree is combined with one bottle of chilled Prosecco and served immediately. The Blackberry Herb Cocktail is a combination of a blackberry syrup and Prosecco. The syrup is made by heating fresh rosemary, blackberries, sugar and water. The mixture is then strained and chilled. This syrup is then added to a flute of Prosecco and garnished with blackberries and rosemary sprigs.
Non-Alcoholic

Caffe Shakerata is a non-alcoholic drink. The Italian classic is made from equal parts of espresso and simple syrup. The mixture is shaken with ice and served in rocks glasses. The simple syrup is replaced with any flavor to personalize the drink. A classic hot chocolate drink is "Nun's Revenge." The recipe calls for heating up half and half with arrowroot and sugar. Once removed from the heat, 70 percent cacao chocolate is whisked into the liquid. The drink is served in cups with a piece of orange zest as a garnish.
