Bubble Gum Vodka Drinks
As flavored vodkas gained in popularity during the last decade, new sweet varieties have regularly appeared on the market. Bubble gum vodka, which mixes the sweetness of a childhood favorite with a potent vodka kick, can be an ingredient in a wide range of drinks. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even experiment with making your own bubble gum vodka.
Refreshing Mixed Drinks
-
The familiar sweetness of bubble gum makes for a refreshing mixed drink that's a big hit at parties. Lemon-lime soda mixes well with bubble gum vodka in drinks such as the Bubble-O 7 and the Double Bubble. The usual ratio is two parts lemon-lime soda to one part bubble gum vodka. The Double Bubble adds a splash of grenadine to create a more complex combination. Serve either over ice for a cool drink that's perfect for a celebration.
Candy in a Glass
-
Candy-inspired cocktails such as the Blow Pop Martini combine several different flavors of sweet liquor to create a drink that calls to mind childhood treats while keeping a decidedly adult alcohol level. Apart from bubble gum vodka, this recipe calls for sour apple, watermelon or berry liqueur as well as frozen lemonade concentrate. For real candy cocktail overkill, garnish the blow pop martini with a lollipop.
Mixing With Fruit Juice
-
Fruit juices mix well with bubble gum vodka, especially those with sourness to counteract the sweetness of the vodka. The Bubble Martini combines two parts bubble gum vodka with one part cranberry juice and one part ginger ale; the Pink Peach Bubble similarly includes equal parts bubble gum vodka and cranberry juice, with smaller quantities of peach schnapps and club soda.
Making Your Own
-
If you want to experiment with your own flavored vodkas, you can try your hand at making your own. As with most candy-infused vodkas, the process is straightforward: Simply place several pieces of bubblegum in a container and pour in enough vodka to cover them. Seal the container so that it is airtight. After a week, strain the resulting infused vodka into a bottle.
