  • The Alley Bar, as its name implies, occupies a narrow, formally derelict space between two buildings. Lighting is provided by low-hanging lamps and reflected by a bold gilt-framed mirror behind the terrazzo bar. Comfortable seating, candlelit tables and acid jazz add to the calm ambiance. Alley Bar is open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 3 a.m. every Friday, Saturday and public holidays. Happy hour is daily from 5 to 9 p.m.

Bar Opiume

  • Bar Opiume, Asia’s first prosecco and vodka bar, features alfresco seating and a more sophisticated vibe than neighboring bars. Décor includes plush leather sofas, Czech crystal chandeliers and Sukothai Buddhas. Bar Opiume features live music nightly, be it jazz, simple acoustic or experimental. Hours of operation are from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Thursday and until 3 a.m. Friday through Saturday.

The Butter Factory

  • The Butter Factory is a bar/discotheque open from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. every Wednesday, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursdays and until 4 a.m. Friday through Saturday. Featuring a hip-hip room and a flash electro room, the music is loud and the ambiance is social, to say the least. Hours are often extended for public holidays and special VIP parties.

Bar Cocoon

  • For those determined to see the sun before bed, Bar Cocoon is open from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 6 a.m. Friday through Saturday. The atmosphere of Bar Cocoon lives up to its name; blue lights rise up from the floor and brilliant reds plunge from the ceiling amid an array of candlelit tables separated by scarf-like draperies. Music is provided by a DJ and caters largely to the dance crowd. The dance platform is lit from the bottom in the same aquamarine hues as the rest of the floor. Bar Cocoon is located inside Forbidden City, beneath the IndoChine Waterfront Restaurant.
